 lucy has a bad day

Members Newsshadow stalker writes "the day of the cobweb run stated in fine fashion with the sun warming up a chilly start. Lucy was rolled out of the garage and coaxed to life after her slumber of some two months, with fresh petrol in the tank and a quick wipe down to remove the light layer of dust so off we went in fine fettle, we made the fairmile in a record time for the old girl just over 15 mins. as soon as everyone had arrived off we all went in convoy with Lucy proudly in front, though the country lanes her heart never missing a beat, up the hills and down the hills, keep checking we haven't lost anyone! at the common we stopped for coffee and to give the cars a chance to catch their breath. all being suitably refreshed we started off again with Lucy in the lead (the driver had planned the route) on our last leg of the journey, then it happened the idiot driving took a wrong turn and half of the convoy took the correct route while the rest followed Lucy, she was so heart broken that she was no longer the star of the run that she decided to teach the driver a lesson, and started firing on 3 cylinders and laying a smoke screen behind her to hide her shame worthy of a ww2 destoyer, every hill was now slowly approached no longer the eager burst of power when demanded, and on the hill at markedge less than a hundred yards from the finish of the run she expired completely. she was towed to fanny's farm shop by Bob Wilkinson's truck and on arrival had her inner working inspected by all, number 3 plug was found to be wet and the float chamber full of unmentionables, after all had been clean she fired up at the first request so we made our way home, determined not to let him who was driving think that he had overcome her tantrum, half a mile down the road she started to fire on three cylinders again, so a slow journey home was the order for the rest of the journey, thank fully Dave and Lynne Way followed us to nearly all the way home in case we broke down, so now she rests in the garage awaiting gentle hands to coax her back to her old self with a promise to not show her up again!   (some hope)"
